What is your vision for the world you want to live in?
What if we already have everything we need to create that world?
At the Pungwe, we gather together for two days to experience the world we want — through ceremony, music, meeting people changing the world, performance, dancing, feasting, connecting, community, and fun. Join us.
What is this Pungwe?
The Pungwe brings together diverse people creating solutions to world issues – in ecology, education, race, community organizing, business, health, law, international development, and many others.
We also bring together healers, artists, dancers, and priestesses – people who open us to the many ways of knowing ourselves, our source, and the mystery.
We usually hear about the crisis of the world, but solutions are everywhere. People have invented new systems and cultures that solve some of our deepest troubles and make our best visions real.
At the Pungwe, we come together to learn about and celebrate what is going right. A new world is alive all around us.
Where is the Pungwe?
This year’s Pungwe is at Monte Toyon Retreat Center near Santa Cruz. The event will start Saturday morning, April 26th, and end Sunday afternoon, April 27th. We will finish by 4:00 so that we can return home and get ready for our week.
What happens at the Pungwe?
Ceremony: We begin and end with ceremony to connect us with the earth, spirit, and all our relations, past and future. Humility and gratitude help us to be open to new possibilities.
Presentations: People in our communities are doing amazing work and we often do not know it. Be ready to get your mind blown and your heart opened by how much is going right.
Embodiment: In between presentations, we bring in our bodies through movement, singing, yoga, somatics, and dancing.
Feasting: Food creates community.
Performance: Jazz, hip hop, spoken word, performance art, dance, folk.
Party: We end the first day with a DJ and dancing.
Salon: Feasting, lounging, talking. Time to slow down and connect with all of the people we heard and watched the day before. Go in-depth, open up ideas and possibilities. We see so much that is inspiring, but so rarely have the time to connect and enjoy.
